Collect your favourite places and share them with friends
A map full of places is not only good for trips. Restaurants, outings and insider tips near you fit on it just as well.
What else you can do with Traveto
Traveto is built for the shared trip. But once there is a map where several people drop places, add notes and make suggestions to each other, other uses suggest themselves. A few of them:
- Favourite restaurants: the pizzeria with the wood-fired oven, the lunch spot near the office, the restaurant for the next birthday, each with a note on what to order. More on this.
- Weekend outings: swimming lakes, trailhead car parks, castles, farm shops. When Saturday brings the question of where to go, the answer is already on the map.
- With children: playgrounds, indoor play areas for rainy days, the ice-cream parlour with seats outside.
- Insider tips for visitors: when friends visit or you want to show colleagues a city, send a map instead of ten messages.
- For your hobby: photo spots, climbing crags, fishing spots, record shops.
- The list for next time: places someone recommended that you have not had a chance to visit yet.
Familiar features, new uses
What was built for trips works here too:
- Your own categories with a colour or symbol, so a map stays readable even with a hundred places.
- One note per place, formatted, visible to everyone in the map. Comments can be pinned or copied into the note.
- Search and filter: by category, by town, by everything with a note.
- Friends send each other places; they land in the inbox instead of the chat history.
- Several maps: one for the city, one for the holiday, one for the family. A place can be on several maps.
Your ideas
This list is not complete, and that is on purpose. You know better than we do what belongs on a map. If you use Traveto for something that is not listed here, we would be glad to hear about it.
Common questions
Does a map in Traveto have to be a trip?
No. A portal is a shared map with places, categories and members. Whether you plan a trip on it or keep the city’s best restaurants there is up to you. Trips with legs are a feature inside it, not a requirement.
Can I create my own categories?
Yes, freely and per portal: pizza, brunch and lunch in one map, playground, lake and ice-cream parlour in another. Every category gets a colour or one of 81 symbols that appears on the place on the map.
How do I share a single place with friends?
Friends in Traveto can send each other places. They land in the other person’s inbox, who can add them to one of their maps. Your message then appears as a comment on the place.
Can I show a map publicly?
Yes. A portal can be shared as a public map via a code. Only places and categories are visible then, with no ratings, comments or members.
