Planning a motorcycle tour as a group

On a motorcycle the road is the holiday. So the plan is a sequence of legs, and everyone in the group should know where the next one ends.

A tour is a sequence of legs

A hotel holiday has one base and day trips. A motorcycle tour has a different place every night, and what lies in between is the reason for the trip. Traveto is built for exactly that: numbered legs with date, note and a driving time that sits on the leg instead of in the tour leader's head.

  • Overnight or stop: a station is either a night or a break. The viewpoint on the pass gets its own point on the map, so it is not forgotten.
  • Distance and driving time between two places, over the whole tour and from your own front door.
  • Passes, petrol stations, biker hotels as places with their own categories and symbols, so the map stays readable.

Several bikes, one plan

As soon as two or more ride, everyone has a favourite road and a hotel they already know. In Traveto everyone adds their own suggestions under their name. Whoever leads the tour orders the legs; the others can always see what the plan looks like right now instead of waiting for the next forwarded message.

From the map to the sat nav

Once the order is set, the tour goes to the sat nav as a GPX file, or to Kurviger, where the line in between gets its curves. And for everyone at home who wants to know where you are, there is a link to the trip that works without an account.

Saved for the next tour

What you found stays. The biker hotel with the garage and the pass that is pointless in fog are already on the map for the next tour.

Common questions about motorcycle tours

Can I transfer the tour to my sat nav?

Yes. The legs can be exported as a GPX file with waypoints that common sat navs and route planners read. For twisty roads there is also the handover to Kurviger. GPX export is part of the paid plan.

How many kilometres should a leg be?

On country roads 300 to 400 kilometres make a good day, over passes more like 200. What matters is the time in the saddle. In a group, breaks also take longer than you would plan on your own.

Does Traveto calculate driving time for a motorcycle?

The driving time sits on the leg and is calculated for the vehicle entered for the trip. It is a planning figure, not a promise: plan photo stops and fuel breaks as stops of their own.

Is Traveto a route planner that optimises for curves?

No. Traveto orders the places and legs of your tour and calculates distance and driving time between them. For the twisty route in between, Kurviger is the right tool, which is why there is a direct handover.
